Hi, I’m Carly. I was born in southern California, raised in a terrible small Texas town, and spent a solid chunk of my twenties living in Beijing, China. I have a B.A. in Writing & Rhetoric from St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX, and an M.A. in Writing for Stage & Broadcast at RCSSD in London.
I am the author of the novel Year of the Goose (Dec. 2015, Unnamed Press), and the memoir, A Farewell to Walmart (Nov. 2016, Little A). My essays and short fiction have appeared in The Guardian, The Los Angeles Review of Books, LitHub, and Identity Theory, among other publications. My short plays have been performed at the Hampstead Theatre and the Bread & Roses Theatre in London. I’m also a screenwriter (TV & film).
